At the Cadence Mixed-Signal Technology Summit on September 20, 2012 Low-Power Design interviewed Mladen Nizic, Engineering Director, Mixed-Signal Solutions at Cadence Design Systems. We asked to give us an overview of mixed-signal design methodologies:

1. In your book you say that “Just as mixed-signal designs are diverse, so are the methodologies used to design, verify and implement them.” Could you give us a brief overview of the major mixed-signal design methodologies?
   
   
2. Let’s drill down a bit further on analog mixed-signal design. Say I’m an analog engineer and I need to incorporate digital content into my design. How do I modify my usual design process to do that?
   
   
3. Now putting the shoe on the other foot, I’m a digital design engineer, what challenges do I face incorporating analog blocks into my design?
   
   
4. You write about a unified, concurrent mixed-signal design methodology for full mixed-signal designs. How does that work?
